In memoriam Aleksander Wojtkiewicz

Il en va de certaines « vacances » que l'on fête, en les souhaitant éternelles, comme d'autres disparitions échiquéennes que l'on déplore. Ainsi celle du GM Aleksander WOJTKIEWICZ (2562 +10 en juillet) à 43 ans suite à des problèmes hépatiques.

Né en Lettonie de nationalité polonaise, il résidait ces dernières années aux États-unis dont il avait pris le code FIDE. Il y avait eu une fille dont il était paraît-il très fier qu'elle fût née un 4 juillet...

A part cela, je le connaissais peu, l'ayant rencontré seulement 2 fois en parties sérieuses. La première, à la dernière ronde du Cap d'Agde 1994 où il m'avait offert une Nulle impromptue pour ne pas jouer pour des clopinettes à 6 sur 9 au général alors que 5 et demi m'assurait, à moi, un bon prix français.

Et la seconde à l'open de Lausanne 99 qui, largement teintée de réussite, représente encore la plus grosse perf de ma carrière avec les Noirs.

Mais ce qui m'émeut et me lie à lui bien plus que notre fraternité lyophobe (que je limite à la table, en ce qui me concerne) ou qu'il ait été d'un an mon cadet, c'est le fait que je lui doive, en partie, ma récente victoire ex-aequo à l'open de Marseille. En effet, celle-ci n'aurait jamais été possible sans ce gain clé avec les Noirs contre Malakhatko (alors virtuellement 2594 depuis le 1er juillet 2006 mais compté 2559 pour le tournoi commencé le 30 juin !) sur une Slave Wojtkiewicz de jolie coïncidence à la 8ème ronde.

C'est la partie Shulman-Wojtkiewicz qui m'a ouvert les yeux.

Elle m'a donné envie d'analyser ce début quintessenciel de la notion de temps, d'adaptation (en l'occurrence à l'enfermement précoce du Fou Dame blanc) et de tension aux Échecs dans un article en anglais d'ailleurs non encore publié.

Et si la dédicace phocéenne de cette perf record de 2688 (« ses purs ongles très haut dédiant leur onyx » ;o) ne suffit pas à honorer sa mémoire, alors j'y ajoute personnellement mes 2 succès rapides en solitaire aux opens de Castelsarrasin 2005 et la Grande-Motte 2006 acquis aux dépens de Glenn Flear, en ex-bourreau blanc sur cette ouverture jusqu'à la découverte de...4...Ff5 !
